My husband and I spent at least two years looking for the perfect place to call our forever home in North Texas. The second we found our little neighborhood in Argyle we knew we finally found it.

Argyle is a quaint town that feels like the all-American small town that only appears in the stories of the 1950s. I know all my neighbors and actually like them. I see police officers driving past my home several times a day and often stopping to play with our daughter. We have a cattle ranch to our North, a donkey rescue to our west, and yet we live in a subdivision with a neighborhood full of kids, trails, and trees.

The town itself is one where everyone gathers on a Friday night in the Fall to cheer on the one high school football team in an idealistic setting. The fans bleed with Eagle pride and we should because our sports teams are amazing. Our baseball team has won three state titles over the last five years, our girls’ basketball team is a powerhouse with seven state titles since 2006, and sprinkle in state titles in boys basketball, cross country, football, golf and volleyball and you can see we’re a small town big on sports.

However, don’t let our sports prowess fool you, we have some of the best academic programs in the state as well. It’s one of the reasons my family was lured here. Argyle is rated the 7th best school district in DFW by Niche.com, also the 5th safest and 5th best for student athletes. Of course, we also have one of the best private schools in the state as well with Liberty Christian right here in Argyle, too.

While schools are our pride and joy, we have so much more. Argyle just has a feel that is pure Texas. The city has been on a mission to keep it’s rural feel. While all of DFW has been expanding, Argyle has been cautious about what it allows in. Our leaders are making sure to do smart development with the slogan “Keep Argyle Rural,” a phrase you see a lot. So big, beautiful ranches are all over our town, but we are seeing a lot of subdivisions coming in. Homes are being built like crazy here and the market is hot, despite a lot of the properties being on the pricey side. The secret is out that Argyle is amazing and people want to move here.

What is not coming in are huge shopping centers. We have little coffee shops like Kimzeys and the Coffee Tree instead of Starbucks. We have Earl’s 377s and Giovanni’s for amazing local pizza, Bumbershoots, and 407 BBQ and one of our favorite summer spots is Gnome Cones… just adorable. Local is key in Argyle from salons to restaurants to dentists and doctors.

It’s just such a wonderful small-town feel that it's hard to believe that in 10 minutes you can be in Denton or Highland Village for all the major shopping you need or in about 30 minutes in Downtown Fort Worth or Dallas for big fancy nights out. However, nothing beats coming home to Argyle, sitting outside on my half-acre, and seeing actual stars at night, hearing nothing but the sounds of nature and knowing that my home is truly the best in all of DFW.
